All-time stats Victor Valdes at Barcelona
Valdes, 31, who has just 12 months left on his current contract at the Camp Nou, looks likely to stay at Barcelona until next summer, despite speculation that the blaugrana board have been sounding out potential replacements, including Liverpool’s Pepe Reina and Borussia Moenchengladbach’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Speaking from the Spain camp at the Confederations Cup, the Catalan goalkeeper told El Pais that he had an open mind about his next move, and could go far away in search of a new challenge.
Most league goals, assists and passes in Europe's top 5 leagues in 2012-2013
Xavi is another to attest to that theory. The 32-year-old leads the pass success category with 96.2 percent for Barcelona in La Liga. He was at 90.4 for the 2009-10 season, then 94.4 percent for the 2010-11 campaign. His number evened out at 92.4 last season, but there's still a trend to be seen.
Age has a big bearing on the accurate through-ball numbers, too. Roma's ever-romantic vision Francesco Totti, at 36, leads the European standings by a huge margin.
Judging by the numbers, Totti's ability to play an attacker in has increased year after year. He averaged 1.0 accurate through-balls per game for the 2009-10 season, 1.1 for 2010-11 and 1.6 last season. Currently, the Italian leads Europe with 2.3 per contest.
Totti's countryman Antonio Cassano, 30, is in second place, with the masterful 33-year-old Pirlo third on the back of his continued brilliance as Juve's resplendent regista.
Stats : Iniesta vs Ozil
"It’s visible now that even though Iniesta edges ahead of Ozil in the goal scoring department, the German nearly doubles the assists tally of this year’s UEFA European Player of the Year award recepient. Ozil reached the semi-finals of the European Championships with Germany and as per the above evidence, he may have deserved just as much recognition as Iniesta over the past year if not more."
Barcelona, all on Thiago Silva: With the departure of Ancelotti you can do

Santos FC to face FC Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy on August 2
Santos FC will be FC Barcelona’s rival in the Joan Gamper Trophy, which will be played on August 2 at 21.30. The match against Neymar’s ex-team could see the Brazilian don the Blaugrana strip for the first time.
Slow start in the Campeonato Brasileiro
Santos are currently 16th in the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A on five points from five matches. The team finished 8th in last season’s competition.
This past May, Neymar’s ex-team were just a step away from winning back-to-back Campeonato Paulista titles, but Corinthians edged Vila Belmiro team by 2-1 and 1-1 in the final.
However, Santos are the current holders of the Recopa Sudamericana, which was won after they defeated Universidad de Chile by 2-0.
Remaining competitive after Neymar’s departure
This historic Brazilian team faces the challenge of overcoming the sale of its biggest star. In addition to Neymar’s departure, the manager, Muricy Ramalho, was recently sacked. Santos confirmed they are currently “in the process of rebuilding.” The team is now managed by Claudinei Oliveira, the U18 manager.
The onus to make the team successful now falls to the 26-year-old Arouca, international with Brazil, and the attacking midfielder Walter Montilla, international with Argentina. The ex-Betis player, Marcos Assunçao, also has an important role to play as he can provide heaps of experience to a side full of young talent.
Two friendlies in Neymar transfer deal
Santos’ participation in the Joan Gamper Trophy was agreed upon when Barça signed the Brazilian forward. In addition to the friendly this summer, Barça and Santos will play another friendly in Brazil, the date and time of the match has yet to be determined.
Barcelona To Sign Robert Lewandowski
Barcelona are preparing a late move for Borussia Dortmund striker Roberto Lewandowski, according to reports in Spain.
Lewandowski was expected to join Bayern Munich this summer but the Dormund chiefs have said that they will not allow him to follow Mario Gotze to the Bundesliga champions.
That has put United at the front of the queue for a player valued at around £25m, but Barcelona could put in a bid of their own.
The Catalan giants have already signed Neymar but with uncertainty over the future of David Villa they could be in the market for another centre-forward.
And Intereconomia TV claim that Barca are ready to make a move for Lewandowski, perhaps using youngster Gerard Deulofeu in a part-exchange deal.

'With Neymar in the team, I would sell my planned Messi'
Johan Cruyff game still sees the shared risk between Messi and Neymar t. Here are some answers to troubling questions:
What will bring the club Neymar?
Must wait and see. He is talented and we need to see if they can adapt to all. This is a problem
All say that it will not fit with Messi, as well as you have said.
It began when I came out against the president Rosell. It is absurd: if I have an opinion, I want to express. If you think he made a mistake, I do not like his enemy, but because this is really what you think.
Messi had sold to avoid conflicts?
With Neymar in the team, I would have planned the possibility of selling Messi. But some do not agree with this. We're talking about a team, for the players, and everything about it ... There are many things in this game. That is why it is difficult to manage an elite team.
It is true for you, that if the combination works, it will be fantastic?
Without a doubt. We should expect to see, but it is a double-edged sword, should do face danger.
Would you have taken that risk?
No, I would not have kontratuar Neymar-in.

Lugano: Neymar likes to fool referees
The defender hit out at the new Barcelona signing ahead of Uruguay's clash with Brazil and warned his team-mates not to be fooled by him
Uruguay captain Diego Lugano has stoked the flames ahead of his side’s Confederations Cup semi-final against Brazil by labelling Neymar a player who likes to con referees.
The 32-year-old also hit out at the playing style of Luiz Felipe Scolari’s side in what was a controversial press conference ahead of the clash in Belo Horizonte.
"Neymar is lightweight – he falls to the ground and fools the referee,” Lugano told reporters.
“He can feign a foul and we must be watchful that nobody is fooled by his ability.
“The Chilean ref assignment is a coincidence. He will be under bigger pressure - I just hope he makes no mistakes.
"Brazil have abandoned their beautiful football style. They now hit people. They are a tough team and they are tactical.”
Uruguay go into the all-South American clash as underdogs but Lugano remains hopeful his side can cause an upset and go on to face either Spain or Italy in the final.
He continued: "Our history shows we can fight well in tough matches. We have brought Uruguay's team back to where it should be.
“We have the right to dream of beating Brazil. They are evolving well, but we have the football that allows us to dream.
“We know each other well. We are proud to play this game against Brazil, plus potentially Spain or Italy."
Uruguay's team bus was delayed getting to the press conference and the defender was asked to comment on how well he felt Brazil's infrastructure had coped with hosting the event one year from the World Cup.
Lugano said: "Brazil is a large country with lots of traffic in big cities, that's just the way it is. I respect that.
"We have been well received here, although there were logistical issues in Recife, with the training facilities far from the hotel."

Cruyff at Barca, Messi sell there might be problems with Neymar
The former Barcelona coach Johann Cruyff advised to leave from Barcelona Messi after arriving in Catalonia Neymar, in order to avoid "situations which might lead to a conflict." In an interview with Marca, Cruyff says, "Now that Barça took Neymar should really consider the sale of Messi, in order to avoid a conflict of egos between the two South American strikers." "I'm all in favor of avoiding conflict," said the former Ballon d'Or again, stating: "Neymar and Messi are both specialists in punishment. Who will go 'to take this responsibility' from now on? Addition, Neymar and Barca have a contract with Nike, while Messi angry with Adidas. Such situations that could cause problems. I would not have taken the risk to take the Brazilian. "Cruyff also speaks of the problems that Messi has had with other companions attack 'bulky' as Samuel Eto'o and Zlatan Ibrahimovic: "It seems that Messi is a bit 'a dictator. When you have the chance' to be the best player in each game, you have to be, 'cause you play the prestige. pressure on Messi and' huge 'cause the fans want to see him always do wonderful things and so that' things must happen to work perfectly. Football: Neymar transfer cost FC Barcelona 57 million euros
BARCELONA: Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu said on Monday the signing of Brazilian international Neymar has cost the club 57 million euros.
The 21-year-old was officially paraded as a Barca player at the Camp Nou earlier on Monday after the club reached an agreement with his old club Santos and the player himself last month.
And Bartomeu ended speculation about how much the Spanish champions had paid for Neymar, although he refused to specify how much each of the parties involved in the deal had received individually on confidentiality grounds.
As well as Santos, investment companies DIS and Teisa who owned part of the player’s economic rights were bought by Barca.
“Barcelona have all the sporting and economic rights of the player,” he told a press conference.
“This operation, at a cost of 57 million euros, has been done without intermediaries or agents just with the four companies involved.”
Of the 57 million, Barca had already paid 10 last year in anticipation of sealing the deal for around 40 million euros in total.
However, Bartomeu admitted that the late interest shown by rivals Real Madrid and another club had made the deal more expensive.
“The operation has been made more expensive due to the interest of other clubs that interfered in the signing of Neymar.
“It was forseen that Neymar would arrive in 2014. To bring the move forward we have had to pay this 17 million euros more.”
Bartomeu also confirmed that as part of the deal Barca will play two friendlies against Santos, with one taking place at the Camp Nou and the other in Brazil, whilst the player’s buyout clause will be 190 million euros.
The club’s sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta also hailed the signing of the Brazilian prodigy and believes there won’t be any issue with Neymar fitting into Barca’s current system alongside Lionel Messi.
“Neymar has a style that fits perfectly into ours,” he said.
“It is never a problem to have too much talent or too many good players.”

Laurent Koscielny to Barcelona?
Arsenal, though, have grown weary of Newcastle's Francophile transformation into the old Arsenal and have decided to become the new Newcastle. But without Joe Kinnear. The Gunners are keen on lil' Lille winger Dimitri Payet and are ready to splash £8m on Guingamp midfielder Gilbert Imbula. Also hoping to swap Ligue 1 for N5 is Marseille's Andre Ayew, although the French side will have to persuade Arsène Wenger to part with Gervinho in exchange.
Manchester United and Chelsea exchanged a long email chain in an attempt to come up with a Rhyming With Sprinkle XI (kids today, huh?). Norwich's Ricky van Wolfswinkel, former Celtic man Andreas Hinkel, Simpson phone prank mainstay Ivana Tinkle, deceased Austrian chess grandmaster Adolf Zinkl, the WWF ring announcer Howard Finkel and 20-year-old Vitesse Arnhem midfielder Marco van Ginkel were all mentioned before they decided to give it up as a bad lot, although both clubs have decided to make £15m bids for Van Ginkel (and Chelsea are considering a move for Tinkle).

Fernando Torres to Barcelona?
Barcelona desperately need a defender or two. So Barcelona are in for a player whose best years were at Liverpool some seasons back. They're in for Daniel Agger, of course. Sorry. They're in for Fernando Torres of course. In the how-to-outdo-Arsenal-in-signing-players-who-don't-fix-the-problems-that-are-effin-obvious stakes, Barça are world champions. Apparently Tito Vilanova has been impressed with Fernando's sulky sub performances for Chelsea and has a comfy cushion on the Camp Nou bench for him to park his rear on. He'll replace current sulky sub David Villa, who is off to Liverpool/Tottenham/Manchester United/Manchester City/Arsenal football club. Chelsea will likely dump Torres outside Napoli's Stadio San Paolo, however, along with £30m and a note asking for them to post Edinson Cavani to Stamford Bridge thank-you-very-much.
Football Transfer News 2013
Manchester United is reportedly trying hard to hammer out a transfer deal for Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara, a team insider disclosed on Saturday.
Alcantara, who captured the European Under-21 Championship MVP after his hatrick led Spain to their fourth title in the tournament, is the apple of the eye of the Red Devils' management because of his cunning ability to orchestrate plays and score goals at such a young age.
However, the Catalan ball club is trying to convince Alcantara to stay with the ball club. Barcelona has reportedly made several tactics to stall the negotiations between Manchester United and the player, making the process frustrating for the Red Devils.
The big concern now is how long the Red Devils can wait to sign the up-and-coming star and prevent him from re-signing with Barca or even get snatched by other big spenders such as Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
The 22-year-old Alcantara has already been called up three times for the Spanish football team and is expected to be a factor in that talented squad in next year's FIFA World Cup.

Football transfer rumours: Barcelona to sign Juan Mata?
Once Mata is safely ensconced inside the Camp Nou, Barcelona will move quickly to sell Thiago Alcântara to Manchester United, David Villa to Tottenham, Christian Tello to someone and overrated timewaster Alexis Sanchez to the local scrapyard, before heading off to Paris to nab Thiago Silva, which will also spell trouble for Chelsea. If Barcelona get what they want then PSG will need a new centre-back and they believe David Luiz, who they value at £35m, is the man to fill that hole.
Not that PSG always get what they want – they've been thwarted in their attempt to appoint Tottenham's André Villas-Boas as their new manager and have instead turned their attention to the Russia manager Fabio Capello, whose contract has a £3m buyout clause. It's a totally rational way of going about your business: if rejected by a young up-and-coming Portuguese manager, then clearly the response should be to chase a 67-year-old Italian who hasn't managed a club side since 2007. They'll be after Joe Kinnear next.
